Helping students process their thinking when faced with a word problem is critical to their learning. As teachers, don’t be afraid to let them productively struggle rather than throwing them a life-saver for every bump in the road. On the other hand, students sometimes need a bit of help to process their thinking. Generating questions ahead of time can help you prepare for various student thinking.
